List Of Cities And Regencies In Riau Province

As already mentioned in my article entitled "List Of Province In Indonesia" that the province of Riau is divided into 12 cities and regencies. Where 10 of them are regencies and the remaining 2 are cities. In this article, I will give you the list of those cities and regencies existing in Riau province. But, let me tell you first what is the differences between city and regency. Briefly, the differences between cities and regencies can be seen from the life of the residents, where the residents of a city are usually more develop than the resident of a regency. Other than that, there are still some point that becomes differences between city and regency.

Here are the difference between city and regency that I present in table form:

That's some difference between city and regency. Now, we go back to the main point, "List of cities and regencies in Riau province". Here it is :

1. Bengkalis Regency 

Bengkalis Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Bengkalis. Bengkalis Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Amril Mukminin. Bengkalis Regency has an area of 7793 km² which divided into 11 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

2. Indragiri Hilir Regency 

Indragiri Hilir Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Tembilahan. Indragiri Hilir Regency is currently led by a regent which name is M.Wardan. Indragiri Hilir Regency has an area of 11606 km² which divided into 20 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

3. Indragiri Hulu Regency 

Indragiti Hulu Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Rengat. Indragiri Hulu Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Yopie Arianto. Indragiri Hulu Regency has an area of 7724 km² which divided into 14 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

4. Kampar Regency 

Kampar Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Sarilamak. Kampar Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Irfendi Arbi. Kampar Regency has an area of 10983 km² which divided into 21 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

5. Meranti Island (Kepulauan Meranti) Regency 

Meranti Island Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Selatpanjang. Meranti Island Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Irwan Nasir. Meranti Island Regency has an area of 3708 km² which divided into 9 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

6. Kuantan Singigi Regency 

Kuantan Singingi Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Teluk Kuantan. Kuantan Singingi Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Mursini. Kuantan Singingi Regency has an area of 7656 km² which divided into 15 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

7. Pelalawan Regency 

Pelalawan Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Pangkalan Kerinci. Pelalawan Regency is currently led by a regent which name is M. Harris. Pelalawan Regency has an area of 12676 km² which divided into 12 districts (we call it "kecamatan").

8. Rokan Hilir Regency 

Rokan Hilir Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Bagansiapiapi. Rokan Hilir Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Suyatno. Rokan Hilir has an area of 8852 km² which divided into 15 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 15 districts are then divided again into 184 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").

9. Rokan Hulu Regency 

Rokan Hulu Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Pasir Pengaraian. Rokan Hulu Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Sukiman. Rokan Hulu Regency has an area of 7588 km² which divided into 16 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 16 districts are then divided again into 156 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa"). 

10. Siak Regency 

Siak Regency is one of regencies in Riau province whose its central goverment located in Siak Sri  Indrapura. Siak Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Syamsuar. Siak Regency has an area of 8275 km² which divided into 14 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 14 districts are then divided again into 126 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").

11. Dumai City

Dumai City is one of cities in Riau province. Dumai City is currently led by a mayor which name is Zulkifli AS. Dumai City has an area of 2039 km² which divided into 7 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 7 districts are then divided again into 33 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").

12. Pekanbaru City

Pekanbaru City is one of cities in Riau province. Pekanbaru City is currently led by a mayor which name is Firdaus. Pekanbaru City has an area of 632 km² which divided into 12 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 12 districts are then divided again into 83 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
