As already mentioned in my article entitled "List Of Province In Indonesia" that the province of Aceh is divided into 23 cities and regencies. Where 18 of them are regencies and the remaining 5 are cities. In this article, I will give you the list of those cities and regencies existing in Aceh province. But, let me tell you first what is the differences between city and regency. Briefly, the differences between cities and regencies can be seen from the life of the residents, where the residents of a city are usually more develop than the resident of a regency. Other than that, there are still some point that becomes differences between city and regency.
Here are the difference between city and regency that I present in table form:

1. West Aceh Regency
West Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Meulaboh. West Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Ramli MS. West Aceh Regency has an area of 2927 km2 which divided into 12 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 12 districts are then divided again into 321 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
2. Southwest Aceh Regency
Southwest Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Blangpidie. Southwest Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Akmal Ibrahim. Southwest Aceh Regency has an area of 1490 km2 which divided into 9 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 9 districts are then divided again into 132 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
3. Aceh Besar Regency
Aceh Besar Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Kota Jantho. Aceh Besar Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Mawardi Ali. Aceh Besar Regency has an area of 2969 km2 which divided into 23 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 23 districts are then divided again into 609 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
4. Aceh Jaya Regency
Aceh Jaya Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Calang. Aceh Jaya Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Teuku Irfan Bahrum. Aceh Jaya Regency has an area of 3812 km2 which divided into 9 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 9 districts are then divided again into 173 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
5. South Aceh Regency
South Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Tapak Tuan. South Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Sama Indra. South Aceh Regency has an area of 3841 km2 which divided into 18 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 18 districts are then divided again into 369 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
6. Aceh Singkil Regency
Aceh Singkil Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Singkil. Aceh Singkil Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Dulmusrid. Aceh Singkil Regency has an area of 2815 km2 which divided into 11 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 11 districts are then divided again into 127 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
7. Aceh Tamiang Regency
Aceh Tamiang Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Karang Baru. Aceh Tamiang Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Mursil. Aceh Tamiang Regency has an area of 1956 km2 which divided into 12 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 12 districts are then divided again into 128 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
8. Central Aceh Regency
Central Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Takengon. Central Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Shabela Abubakar. Central Aceh Regency has an area of 4318 km2 which divided into 14 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 14 districts are then divided again into 268 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
9. Southeast Aceh Regency
Southeast Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Kutacene. Southeast Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Raidin Pinim. Southeast Aceh Regency has an area of 4231 km2 which divided into 16 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 16 districts are then divided again into 164 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
10. East Aceh Regency
East Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Idi Rayeuk. East Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Hasballah M. Thaib. East Aceh Regency has an area of 6286 km2 which divided into 24 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 24 districts are then divided again into 580 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
11. North Aceh Regency
North Aceh Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Lhoksukon. North Aceh Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Muhammad Thaib. North Aceh Regency has an area of 3236 km2 which divided into 27 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 27 districts are then divided again into 1160 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
12. Bener Meriah Regency
Bener Meriah Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Simpang Tiga Redelong. Bener Meriah Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Ahmadi. Bener Meriah has an area of 1454 km2 which divided into 10 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 10 districts are then divided again into 232 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
13. Bireun Regency
Bireun Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Bireun. Bireun Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Saifannur. Bireun has an area of 1901 km2 which divided into 17 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 17 districts are then divided again into 514 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
14. Gayo Lues Regency
Gayo Lues Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Blang Kejeren. Gayo Lues Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Muhamad Amru. Gayo Lues has an area of 5719 km2 which divided into 11 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 11 districts are then divided again into 97 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
15. Nagan Raya Regency
Nagan Raya Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Suka Mamue. Nagan Raya Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Muhamad Jamin Idam. Nagan Raya has an area of 3363 km2 which divided into 10 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 10 districts are then divided again into 213 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
16. Pidie Regency
Pidie Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Sigli. Pidie Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Roni Ahmad. Pidie has an area of 3086 km2 which divided into 10 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 23 districts are then divided again into 946 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
17. Pidie Jaya Regency
Pidie Jaya Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Meureudu. Pidie Jaya Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Aiyub Abbas. Pidie Jaya has an area of 1073 km2 which divided into 8 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 8 districts are then divided again into 215 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
18. Simeulue Regency
Simeulue Regency is one of regencies in Aceh province whose its central goverment located in Sinabang. Simeulue Regency is currently led by a regent which name is Erli Hasim. Simeulue has an area of 2051 km2 which divided into 10 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 10 districts are then divided again into 135 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
19. Banda Aceh City
Banda Aceh City is one of cities in Aceh province. Banda Aceh City is currently led by a mayor which name is Aminullah Usman. Banda Aceh has an area of 61 km2 which divided into 9 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 9 districts are then divided again into 80 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
20. Langsa City
Langsa City is one of cities in Aceh province. Langsa City is currently led by a mayor which name is Usman Abdullah. Langsa has an area of 262 km2 which divided into 5 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 5 districts are then divided again into 52 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
21. Lhokseumawe City
Lhokseumawe City is one of cities in Aceh province. Lhokseumawe City is currently led by a mayor which name is Suaidi Yahya. Lhokseumawe has an area of 181 km2 which divided into 4 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 4 districts are then divided again into 67 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
22. Sabang City
Sabang City is one of cities in Aceh province. Sabang City is currently led by a mayor which name is Nazaruddin. Sabang has an area of 153 km2 which divided into 2 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 4 districts are then divided again into 18 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
23. Subulussalam City
Subulussalam City is one of cities in Aceh province. Subulussalam City is currently led by a mayor which name is Merah Sakti Kombih. Subulussalam has an area of 1391 km2 which divided into 2 districts (we call it "kecamatan"). Those 5 districts are then divided again into 74 sub-district (we call it "kelurahan/desa").
